When is the last time you went down to English bay and DIDN’T see someone posing with the iconic, bronze, laughing men? “A-maze-ing Laughter,” by artist Yue Minjun has become as much a part of English Bay’s Skyline as it has become a great and memorable photo opportunity.

Almost everyone has posed with these large-exaggerated figures, mimicking their facial expressions, climbing on them and many post them on Facebook. There is nothing we love more than seeing the public truly enjoy and interact with the art that the Vancouver Biennale has tirelessly worked to bring to our city.

It has been all fun and games up until now, but here’s a little wake up call – many of those pieces that have brightened up our commute and neighbourhood will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at the Vancouver Biennale Auction & Gala on April 30th and the rest through private sale .

If you love the public art that has become a part of your daily lives you need to let your city know. Before it’s too late – speak up and show us some of your favourite Vancouver Biennale public art pieces by posting them on our Facebook wall.

It’s not the same without art.

Like what you see?
