Ken Lum’s writings explore not just his practice, but contemporary art as well as questions of belonging, race, cultural nationalism, gentrification, and the role of the artist in an ever-changing world. Everything is Relevant: Writings on Art and Life, 1991-2018 is required reading for anyone interested in Lum and in the international art scene over the last thirty years.

Ken Lum is a prominent Chinese-Canadian artist, educator, keynote speaker, and prolific writer. He is passionate about public art and has an active art exhibition record of over 30 years, with involvement in over 11 major international exhibitions including the Documenta 11, Venice Biennale, Sao Paolo Bienal, Shanghai Biennale.

The iconic Monument for East Vancouver (“East Van Cross” as it is fondly called by Vancouverites) is one of Lum’s local, public pieces.

This is a free event held at the Vancouver Biennale Centre, sponsored by Concordia University Press.
Due to limited space, a ticket is required to attend this event.
