West Vancouver Schools: Original Song Performance at Park Royal

BIG IDEAS Education Student Performance

Date & Time

DATE: Wednesday, April 16 2014

TIME: 11:15 – 11:40AM

Join us for an Original Song Performance by the West Vancouver French Immersion students from École Cedardale Elementary, École Pauline Johnson Elementary, and Sentinel Secondary.  The performance is the creative showcase of the three West Vancouver French Immersion schools participating in this year’s Vancouver Biennale BIG IDEAS Education Program. The collaborative project fosters a sense of french immersion community expressing that lines of communication can be developed across languages, experiences, locations and ages through music.

Inspired by the Biennale legacy art work Echoes by Michel Goulet, the students have created original songs around the project’s BIG IDEA of “Lines of Communication”. All of the words and melodies were created by the students, facilitated by songwriter Brendan McLeod, musician Gordon Cobb, and their classroom teachers. Come and experience this original series of interrelated songs and narratives covering topics such as family activities, social media, and languages.

This performance is part of the West Vancouver School District’s Creative and Performing Arts Showcase – Lighthouse Festival in West Vancouver Park Royal Shopping Centre. The general public is invited to this FREE event.
