Has Ajlan Gharem’s Paradise Has Many Gates piqued your interest in learning more about traditional Islamic art? The Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies presents a weekend of art workshops celebrating and learning from centuries-old art practices from the Muslim world in contemporary contexts.

Join skilled, locally based artists as they share their knowledge and practise in hands-on workshops. Artists and non-artists, ages 12+ welcome.

 

Saturday July 14

10am-2pm Islamic Geometric Design with Ellie Eshraghi

3pm-7pm Arabic Calligraphy with Nikhat Qureshi

 

Saturday 28 July

10am-2pm Persian Calligraphy with Mojtaba Daneshi (ink included, but please bring your own canvas to paint)

3pm-7pm Islamic Geometric Design with Adam Flood

 

Cost of each workshop is $50 and includes materials and snacks.
