The Vancouver Biennale’s International Artist-In-Residence Program is excited to share the newest audio piece by Chongquing China-based artist; Tao Hui. Over the course of his 6-week residency, Tao Hui has asked the participants to share stories of loss –missed connections, forgotten friends, loved ones who have passed on– under the #VanBiennale 2018-2020 theme, ‘re-IMAGE-n’.
“No matter where you’re from, no matter where you live, there must be someone in your life whom you might have lost. It might have been a family member, a lover, a friend, or a stranger. Even though you might have fallen out of touch with them and they might have forgotten you. Even though you still remember them through stories, songs, and memories.
I invite you to participate in a project, where I can help you reconnect with those memories by giving your stories a platform on the radio. Maybe they might hear it, hear you, or never hear it, but your words will broadcast as a radio wave, and become a sound-based sculpture in the city of Vancouver and a commemoration between you and them forever.
