Project Vanqor

Ghizlane Agzenaï, Morocco

Description

This installation and print artwork mark the culmination of Ghizlane Agzenaï’s eight-week residency in Vancouver. Inspired by the city, including its brutalist architectural landmarks, Project Vanqor explores the translation of her vibrant, geometric visual language into three dimensions.

The residency has led to the creation of a physical prototype and a digital rendering, presented through an immersive painted installation that envelops visitors in color and curved shapes resonant with the energy of the proposed sculpture. Together, these elements conjure a speculative object that gestures toward a possible future.

The next phase of the project will focus on developing the work at both monumental scale and as a series of maquettes.

Ghizlane Agzenaï (b. 1988, Morocco) is a visual artist known for her radiant geometric compositions that she describes as carriers of joyful energy, intended to bring benevolent strength and introspection into the spaces they inhabit. Her work spans gallery exhibitions, large-scale murals, and collaborations with major institutions and brands including Maison Guerlain and the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. She has exhibited internationally in Paris, Vienna, Spain, and Germany, and was selected by Felipe Pantone for his artist residency program.
