Jaume Plensa follows in the 20th century Spanish tradition of producing leading artists of the era like Picasso, Miró, Tàpies and Dali. With numerous national and international awards and honours, Plensa has exhibited in major museums throughout Europe, Japan and North America, including The Institute Valencia d’Art Modern, Valencia, Spain, The Musée d’Art Contemporain, Nice, France, Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Tate Modern, London, inclusion in the prestigious 53rd International Art Exhibition, Venice Biennale in 2009. In addition, Plensa has won numerous public art commissions worldwide, including installations in Tenerife, Spain, New York, Paris, Toronto, Moscow, Barcelona and the prestigious $17 million multimedia installation in Chicago’s Millennium Park.

In 2011, a large selection of Plensa’s sculptures was exhibited at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in West Bretton, England. The extensive exhibition was shown in the galleries and the park. Thanks to this exhibition, the site received national recognition as Most Magnificent Attraction in 2011. To date, this has been one of the most complete shows ever devoted to the work of Jaume Plensa. 

 With Together, Collateral Event of the 56th Venice Biennale, Basilica San Giorgio Maggiore, Jaume Plensa obtained the Global Fine Art Award for the Best Public Outdoor Installation in 2015. 

 In 2019, he received special recognition for Behind The Walls (2018) at Rockefeller Center, New York, which travelled to MUNAL–Museo Nacional de Arte, Ciudad de Mexico, in 2020 it has been installed at the University of Michigan Museum of Art, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. 

 In 2022, the Musée d’art moderne de Céret in Céret, France, inaugurated its new spaces with the exhibition Chaque visage est un lieu. 

WE, 2008, one of the feature installations in the 2009-2011 Vancouver Biennale, created specifically for the exhibition.
