We Are Ocean : Module 4
Welcome to Module 4. We Are Ocean Vancouver. On this Teacher Page you will find the Learning Video to watch with your students, and the corresponding Educational Guide offering content for lesson plans and activity ideas. We’ve also created bonus cycling and walking tours that feature We Are Ocean Vancouver locations!
The module begins with an introduction by very special guest Francesca Santoro. Francesca is in charge of ocean literacy and ocean science communication activities at the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO. She coordinates global partnerships to raise awareness on the importance of the ocean for the planet.
Cease and Oli are back to take you to Maplewood flats, a site where the impacts of colonization on the ecosystems and ocean are clearly evident. Oli interviews Cease to go deeper into the meaning of colonization, indigenous plants and decolonization practices, then share how students can support ocean health through what they’ve learned.
