Bio

Gisela Motta (b. 1976)

 

Lives and works in São Paulo. Graduated in Bachelor of Fine Arts at FAAP, where she began to regularly attend shows and several group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad. She took part in the exhibition Território de Contato – Tão Longe Tão Perto _ SESC Pompéia, São Paulo. She was a finalist in the Nam June Paik Award 2012 in Germany, and was awarded with the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation Prize, Miami.  She was also selected by the Unesco – Aschberg Bursaries for Artist Programme for an artistic residency at Hiap, Helsinki, Finland, as well as the Artist Links – England / Brazil Programme, from the British Council for an artist residency in England.

 

Among the solo exhibitions she presented are highlights: “Sopro” at the CCBB, Rio de Janeiro, and “Anti-Horário ” at Galeria Vermelho, São Paulo, both in 2012. In.situ.ações, Maman in Patio, Recife, 2011. Sob Controle, Galeria Vermelho, São Paulo. Dial M for Murder, Centro Cultural Britânico, 13th Festival Cultura Inglesa, São Paulo, 2009.

 

Among the group exhibitions stakes up: “1st Biennale del Fin del Mundo”, Ushuaia; 10º Havana Biennial: “Integration and Resistance in the Global Era”; “Höhenrausch.2”, OK Centrum, Linz; “Supertemporal – International Videoart Today”, at the Kulturhuset Museum in Stockholm. In Transition: Cifo Grants & Commissions Program Exhibition, CIFO, Miami. 17th International Festival of Contemporary Art SESC_Videobrasil, SESC Belenzinho, São Paulo.

 

She was awarded with the following prizes: 2nd Marcantonio Vilaça Prize, SESI CNI, 13th Cultura Inglesa Festival Award, 8th Sergio Motta Art and Technology Prize, and CIFO – Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation Prize, Miami.

 

Leandro Lima (b. 1976)
