Karima Essa is a three-time Canadian National Dance champion and two-time semi-finalist on OMNI TV’s reality show Bollywood Star. An incredibly charismatic and passionate performer, choreographer and instructor, she has used her one-of-a-kind Bollywood talent to perform for diverse audiences in schools and events across Canada. She is also on ArtStarts’ school touring roster and has performed in 100+ schools across BC and led several artist-in-residencies and dance workshops in schools for K-12 students. She is excited to work with students to create their own original dance choreography to tell their own personal stories or stories tied to educational themes from the curriculum (i.e. social studies, history, language arts, global citizenship). Using the key elements of Bollywood dance, she will teach students about the power of using body language through intricate facial expressions, hand movements and foot movements to convey storytelling without words.
